Brief considerations on hero typology and a portrait: Găvrilă Iuga, hero of Great Romania and institution-man of Maramureș

The article discusses the theme of the hero and presents a theoretical distinction that we consider relevant: that between the circumstantial hero and the hero in continuous form. Thus, throughout the paper, we define and outline the main attributes that define the two heroic types. Finally, to exemplify the typology of the true hero, we present a case study based on the personal life and professional career of Găvrilă Iuga, a prominent personality of Romania in general and of Maramureș in particular, in the 1911–1940 timeframe.
