Abstract
Vasile Băncilă, a Romanian philosopher and ethicist, is one of the few Romanian authors who are concerned with the issue of holidays. Even if he focused more on the ethics of holidays, Vasile Băncilă’s work contains several concepts with potential use in the sociological analysis of festive time. The present material represents a minor attempt to develop those concepts discovered by Vasile Băncilă that are relevant for the sociological analysis of celebration, but which were insufficiently developed by the philosopher from Brăila. Among these concepts are the holiday receptivity, holiday potency, and the treasure troves of holiday.
