Abstract
The present article is centered upon the work of the hierarch Nicolae Colan, especially in Transylvania, after the Great Union. The scribe is renowned for his involvement both in pastoral-missionary and socio-economical areas. In order to emphasize the importance of his work at the level of the young generation, the article refers to the concept of soul unity that belongs to the economist and sociologist Mircea Vulcănescu. To support this link between the work of the hierarch Colan and the mission of soul unification of the Transylvanian Romanians, one will present a summary of these activities: he published numerous articles important for the new generation; he preached to the Transilvanian Romanians about the importance of the church, thus enforcing and encouraging them to be united; he fought for the support of the Romanian culture in Transylvania, through the religious vector; he was involved in helping parishioners found in soul and body trials; he contributed to many translations of important theological books; he raised a new and young generation of priests and singers, being personally involved in their formation, infusing them with the values of Christian morality. Thus, through all of these activities carried out by Metropolitan Nicolae Colan, he became a binder of the soul unity for the Romanians in Transylvania.
